Community Acupuncture

Community Acupuncture at Saint Francis Hospital

What is Community Acupuncture?

Community Acupuncture is part of a growing movement, which is committed to a vision of affordable and accessible acupuncture for everyone.

In a Community Acupuncture clinic, people are treated in recliners, clustered in a quiet and soothing space. Treatment in this manner has many benefits: family members and friends can come in together for treatment; many patients find that it decreases the sense of isolation that often comes with illness; and (best of all) a kind of “collective energy” happens which makes individual treatments more powerful.

The best medicine in the world can’t help you if you can’t afford it.

Most people don’t have insurance that covers acupuncture. Community Acupuncture is affordable. The clinic at The Center for Integrative Medicine uses a “sliding scale” payment system. Your first visit is $30 to $50. You decide what you can afford. Follow up treatments are $20 to $40, again YOU decide what you can pay. There is no “economic test” and we don’t have to see your tax return! You simply pay what you can afford that visit. Most often treatment costs less than an insurance co-pay!

Because it often takes a series of treatments to be fully effective, Acupuncture works best when you come in consistently. Since Community Acupuncture is affordable you can come in as often as you need to, to get the best results!

Okay, that all sounds great! How do I get started?

Do I have to get undressed??

NO! We use a style of acupuncture that focuses on treating points on the arms and legs (mostly). Wear LOOSE comfortable clothing or bring a pair shorts and a tee shirt to wear during treatment.

How long is a treatment??

Most treatments last any where from 30 minutes to an hour but there is no time limit.

How do I find the clinic??

The clinic is located in the Gengras Extension just off the second level entrance of the main parking garage. Detailed directions are here. Parking is free so bring in your parking ticket!
